UNIFOR grant RM1mil for Bintulu Old Tua Pek Kong

BINTULU: The Sarawak government, through the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR), presented a cheque for RM1,000,000 to the Bintulu Old Tua Pek Kong Devotees Association at Abang Galau Street here today.

The cheque was presented by the special officer to Bintulu Member of Parliament, Steven Kong Kai Seng to the chairman of the Bintulu Old Tua Pek Kong Devotees Association, Sim Yong Huat and was witnessed by the committee members of the association.

The allocation is intended for the upgrading and renovation of the temple.

It was disclosed that the current status of the temple’s upgrade and renovation project is at 80 percent completion and is expected to be fully completed by August next year.

Meanwhile, Steven Kong said that the contribution demonstrated the Sarawak government’s commitment to ensuring smooth religious development while safeguarding the welfare and harmony of the multi-religious population.

He hoped that representatives of the religious institutions involved would utilise the allocated funds properly and wisely.

Sim expressed gratitude to the Sarawak government for approving the RM1,000,000 grant through UNIFOR to the association.

“We also thank the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Malaysia, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bintulu, for assisting us in obtaining this allocation,” he said.
