KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas yesterday paid a visit to the Sunrich Awesome (Kuch) Sdn. Bhd., one of the urban farms in the city.
The farm, leveraging on modern hydroponic system, is in a double-storey industrial lot in Sejingkat and operations started in January last year.
A total of 17 types of green salad, eight local vegetables, eight kinds of herbs and five microgreens are cultivated at the farm.
Meanwhile, cherry tomatoes and Japanese cucumber had been successfully cultivated in the outdoor tower system.
Cultivation of zucchini, green and red bell peppers were still in progress.
According to one of its directors Simon KS Yeo, the farm has a daily production of 10.41kg and monthly production of 322.67kg.
“Our products are sold to all leading supermarkets and restaurants in the city,” he said.
He also pointed out that the farm planned to expand in line with the state government’s vision to become a net food exporter by 2030.
