KUCHING: Mosques should play a vital role in fostering unity, not only among Muslims but also people of other religions.

Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said mosques should always be open to various events and programmes that also involve people of different religious backgrounds.

“A mosque can also be a platform to organise community-based events that invite both Muslims and non-Muslims to participate.

“In other words, this Darul Hana Mosque here can be fully used for the benefit of the Muslims and the wider community,” he said at the closing ceremony of the Darul Hana Mini Carnival 2023 at the Darul Hana Mosque here recently.

Meanwhile, more than 3,000 participated in the activities during the mini carnival. The event, among others, featured programme such as Nadwah Belia Islam Darul Hana, Daurah Fiqh Darah Wanita, Darul Hana Berselawat, Sukan Rakyat Darul Hana, and mosque officer courses.

The mini carnival from Aug 4 to 13 was organised in collaboration with the Sarawak Islamic Department Kuching office, Land Custody and Development Authority, Royal Malaysian Navy office, Health Department Kuching office and Halaqah Kemajuan Muslim Sarawak, among others.
