KUCHING: Kesatuan Guru Bumiputera Sarawak (KGBS) believes that the use of face masks is still relevant and necessary in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

However, its president Zulkiflee Sebli, also welcomed the idea of non-mandatory use of face mask either inside or outside the school building.

“As a precautionary and self-care measure, school members still need to be prepared for the various possibilities.

“If we are still being negligent, it is not impossible that the situation will worsen,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He added that for over two years, the people have been living in a new norm and among it is to wear face mask.

“Therefore, as a preventive measure, we need to always use face mask, especially in crowded open areas in school.

“The use of face masks is still necessary for children who have symptoms such as cough and flu and the practice of washing hands also needs to be maintained.
