MIRI: An 11.2km pipeline along the Pujut link road and Kuala Baram by-pass road has been completed, about a month ahead of schedule. “It helps improve water pressure and meet the increasing demand for water along the Kuala Baram by-pass in the northern area here,” said Laku Management Sdn Bhd CEO Franklin Ucar.

The construction work started 18 months ago, and was completed on Aug 2. Franklin was met on Thursday at the official commissioning of the pipeline at the Pujut Miri by-pass.

The water main extension would serve about 100,000 people in the northern part of Miri, he said. “It will increase the volume of treated water and helps improve water pressure during peak hours.” Franklin credited the project’s successful implementation to a dedicated Laku team, which accomplished it ahead of schedule, within budget and up to expectation. “We value transparency and compliance to our safety management system.

We truly serve our public by ensuring the provision of safe, reliable treated water supply with a commitment to always put our customers as our first priority,” he said. On another note, Franklin conveyed his condolences to the family of Laku chairman Datuk Ahmad Lai Bujang’s family on his passing.
