Winners bag cash prizes totalling RM4,400

SERIAN: The 63rd Serian Division level Al-Quran Recital (Tilawah Al-Quran) saw a total of six participants brought home cash awards totalling RM4,400 and trophies.

The event held at the Sarawak Government Administration Centre Serian Division yesterday and was officiated by Sarawak Islamic Council chairman Datuk Misnu Taha.

A total of eight participants from four districts here have competed for a place in the qari (male reciter) and qariah (femali reciter) category.

Fatin Nurain Ripot was adjudged champion for the qariah category taking home cash prize of RM1,000 while in second spot was Zulaikhah Ripot who won RM700 and Masriah Mohamed was placed third, earning her RM500.

Meanwhile, in the qari category, the champion was Azri Deli while the first runner-up was Merzuki Bohari and third place went to Rohaizat Rejab. They also respectively took home RM 1,000, RM700 and RM500.

Apart from the cash prizes, all winners also received a trophy.

Also present were Serian Resident Selamat Jati Yanjah, Serian Islamic Religious Officer Morshidi July, Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Islam Serian (LAKIS) chairman Mohd Amin Dan and Pemanca Salbiah Emon.
