KUCHING: Wishesland, a non-profit organisation (NGO) is expanding to West Malaysia by opening its first branch in Selangor.

The founder and president of Wishesland, Chi Poh Yung said that recently the Malaysian Registrar of Society approved Wishesland’s application to set up Wishesland Selangor.

“We are pleased that our application was approved by the Registrar of Society within just two weeks. This speedy response came as a pleasant surprise to us,” Chi said in a press statement today.

This branch marks the NGO’s third, following Wishesland Miri and Wishesland Sibu.

Chi added that Wishesland Selangor was started by a committed group of parents and volunteers who genuinely care for Cerebral Palsy families in Selangor. The NGO is currently hiring two physiotherapists to begin their operations.

According to him, the NGO is actively searching for a suitable location, preferably a double-story landed property, to serve as the operation centre.

“After setting up our operational centre, we plan to recruit children with Cerebral Palsy as members,” Chi added.

To kickstart their operations, Chi said, Wishesland Selangor requires funding for rent, renovation of the premises to accommodate children with special needs, purchase of physiotherapy equipment, installation of security measures like CCTV and alarms, staffing, and administrative work.

Chi appealed to various organisations and individuals, urging them to donate money or sponsor equipment and other needs. The NGO requires approximately RM200,000 as a starting investment, covering expenses like rent, staff, equipment, and operations.
