PADAWAN: Two youth were arrested for riding dangerously on their motorcycles along Jalan FAC Matang last Sunday (July 25).

Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the suspects, aged 16 and 21, attempted to flee from the police by riding against the traffic flow.

However, their attempt was short-lived as the police managed to arrest them.

The duo will be investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous riding.

Their motorcycles were also seized for further action.

“The duo were among three individuals detained during an operation codenamed Ops Tutup, which was conducted by Padawan police from 3pm to 8pm.

“All three individuals were taken to the Padawan district police headquarters for urine tests. Results found no traces of any illegal substance,” he said.

Aidil added that the integrated operation, led by Padawan traffic police chief ASP James Jakup Chaling involving two senior police officers and 26 personnel, inspected 48 motorcycles and 52 individuals.
