SIBU: A woman’s hopes of owning designer watches were dashed after falling prey to a fraud syndicate and suffering a loss of RM526,400.

Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the 60-year-old victim lodged a report on March 14.

“The victim has been dealing with the suspect (syndicate member) via the WeChat application since the beginning of February.

“The victim was offered four Rolex watches for RM 526,400,” he said in a statement today.

Unable to resist the offer, the victim made nine transactions to a local bank account from Feb 15 until 27.

“However, the victim did not receive the purchased watches and the suspect unable to be contacted,” he said.

Zulkipli advised the public to check before making any purchase online, especially goods that are sold at giveaway prices.
