KUCHING: All members of the Sarawak Royal Malaysia Police Force (PDRM) Contingent have been reminded to work with sincerity and trust.

Outgoing Sarawak CP Datuk Ramli Din gave this reminder during his farewell parade yesterday at the Sarawak Police Contingent headquarters.

“As police officers, you should maintain a high level of discipline and always obey your superior officers.

“Apart from that, it is vital to cooperate with each other irrespective of departments to ensure that Sarawak is always free of crime that threatens the well-being and safety of the people,” he said.

Pointing out that the crime situation in Sarawak was under control, Ramli urged the PDRM staff would continue to work with the local community to maintain harmony in the state.

“The younger generation in the force should learn from the veterans who have vast experiences in working to help ensure the community’s safety.

“They should also take the chance to learn and stay away from any immoral activities such as drugs abuse, bribery, abuse of power and others,” he said as such activities would  destroy the image of PDRM.

After serving for only three months in Sarawak, Ramli has been appointed as the new Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) director and will assume his duties on March 2.

Former Terengganu police Chief Datuk Aidi Ismail will be taking over as the new Sarawak CP.

Ramli also urged the PDRM staff to give their full cooperation and support to Aidi.

“I trust that that the goal and fight remain the same for the Sarawak PDRM, which are to achieve the mission and vision to be the best safety team in the country,” he said.

The farewell parade was attended by heads of departments, district police chiefs, senior officers and other PDRM staff.

At the event, members of the Sarawak Brigade General Operation Force (GOF) also received certificates of appreciation for their successful drug bust operation in January.
