SERIAN: An 18-year-old man died from injuries following a fatal head-on collision along Jalan Serian-Sri Aman last night (Nov 29).
The accident involving a Perodua Alza and a 10-tonnes lorry happened around 10.20pm near Kampung Jirok.
A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the impact of the collision had caused the car to be completely destroyed after it caught fire.
Firemen from Serian station were promptly despatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call.
On arrival, the Perodua Alza driver identified as Derry Ronston Jong, was found dead with 20 per cent burns on his body at the scene.
The body was later handed over to the police to be taken to Serian Hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the lorry driver and his attendant aged 55 and 49, sustained light injuries in the collision and they were also taken to the hospital.
The team also carried out extinguishing works to douse the car fire before wrapping up the operation at 2.35am and heading back to their station.
