BINTULU: The Marine Police here foiled a man’s bid to transport 1,000 litres of diesel in an operation codenamed Ops Kontraban at Jalan Persisir Bintulu-Kuala Tatau on Monday (June 21).
Bintulu Marine Police commanding officer ASP Ezuandi Bahadin said an intelligence team detained a lorry for inspection at a roadblock in Kampung Warisan Jepak around 1.30pm.
The lorry, driven by a man in his 50s, was loaded with a square tank containing 1,000 litres of diesel.
“During questioning, the driver failed to produce any papers from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) to the team.
“The seized diesel worth RM2,150 along with the driver, was handed over to Bintulu KPDNHEP for further action,” he said.
The case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961.
