1,248 COVID-19 cases in Sarawak today

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded a total of 1,248 new Covid-19 cases today, an increase of 806 cases compared to Monday’s 442.

This brings the total number of cases in the state to 261,060.

In its daily update, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said four patients were Category 5 (requiring ventilator support) while two, Category 4 (requiring oxygen).

“Twelve patients are under Category 3 (lung infection). A total of 563 other cases are Category 1 (no symptoms) and 667, Category 2 (mild symptoms).

“Kuching tops the list with 430 cases, followed by Miri with 238; Sibu (180); Bintulu (82); Serian (47); Kota Samarahan (45); Sarikei (39); Kapit (21); Bau (18); Sri Aman (17); Matu (16); Lawas (15); Mukah (11); Saratok (10); nine each in Lundu and Limbang; eight each in Daro and Subis; Julau (seven); Betong (six); five each in Meradong and Simunjan; Kanowit (four); three each in Belaga and Tebedu; two each in Song and Pusa; and one each in Dalat, Pakan, Lubok Antu, Tatau, Telang Usan, Sebauh, Bukit Mabong, and Asajaya.

“No new fatality was reported,” said SDMC.

There were 76 new persons-under-surveillance and 305 of them are currently quarantined at designated hotels.

SDMC also stated that the total number of persons under surveillance who had been discharged numbered 167,032.

In terms of non-compliance to standard operating procedures, Kuching police had issued a total of 11 compound notices to errant individuals for failing to scan the MySejahtera before entering a premises (10) and failing to put on face masks (one).

This brings the total number of compounds issued by Sarawak police to 13,455.

Meanwhile, the council in Sibu had issued one compound to an individual for failing to scan the MySejahtera before entering a premises. This brings the total number of compounds issued by local councils in the state to 1,582.
