KUCHING: Thirty-three hotspots were reported statewide and of that number, Miri recorded the most with 13 hotspots.

Director of State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Khirudin Drahman said Bomba would conduct daily patrols to prevent open fires.

“I have instructed all zone and station heads to go down to the field to engage and advocate,” he told reporters here at State Fire and Rescue Headquarters, yesterday.

According to Khirudin, chairman of the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, issued a directive on Monday.

“The directive is for the parties who conducted open burning to stop the act immediately,” he said.

Earlier, Khirudin handed over seven fire certificates to the owners of government and private premises.
