152 rural clinics receive donated equipment

WELFARE... Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian with members of the Rotary Club from Bintulu who handed over the donation of medical equipment at the old DUN grounds, Petra Jaya Kuching yesterday.

KUCHING: Rotary Club of Bintulu Central was sponsored by Latter Day Saints (LDS) Charities RM1.28 million to donate medical equipment to 152 rural clinics in Sarawak.

The 152 equipment came in the form of maternal healthcare, infant and child healthcare, emergency, critical care and early detection of disease.

Present to witness the handover was Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is also the Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government .

LDS Charities representative Elder Roger Baer handed over the donations to Sarawak Health Department director Dr Ooi Choo Huck at the Old Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) building here yesterday.

Among those present at the handover were past Rotary district governors Datuk Zainie Abdul Aucasa, Andre Suharto and Dolly Yeap.

The handover ceremony titled “Hope Project: Touching More Lives” was made possible through the Rotary Club of Bintulu Central (RCBC) led by president Allen Wong Chin Seng.
