MUKAH: A sum of RM765,000 has been allocated to provide food baskets to 15,300 households in the Mukah parliamentary constituency.

The distribution of the aid, which commenced today (Tuesday), will be carried out in stages, depending on the food supply.

Mukah Parliamentary Constituency Service Centre spokesman, Rosli Sopok, said of the total sum, RM300,000 was from Mukah MP’s food basket programme, and RM465,000 from Mukah parliament constituency’s allocation for disasters.

“I hope the people will wait patiently for their turn to receive the food aid,” he said during a symbolic handover of the food baskets to Mukah Resident Hamdiah Bakir at Dewan Seri Pekala Kuala Lama here on Monday (July12).

Rosli was representing Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, who is also Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs).

According to him, the aid will be distributed to areas accessible by roads first, followed by areas accessible by riverine transports such as Nanga Baoh in Dalat.

Mukah parliamentary constituency covers Balingian, Dalat and Tellian state constituencies.

The RM300,000 allocation was given to every MP by the federal government  under the People’s Protection and Economic Recovery (Pemulih) package.
