Meanwhile, a new cluster, dubbed the DTI Semuja 3 Cluster, has been declared.

Nineteen people, including the index case, tested positive.

The cluster involved the Semuja Immigration Detention Depot in Serian.

The index case (case 270,274) is a 34-year-old foreign male detainee who is awaiting his court trial. He tested positive on March 7 through a screening test.

The SDMC said that the spread of infection is believed to have been caused by close contact among cellmates and staff of the centre.

It added that out of the 19 positive cases from the new cluster, 14 were reported today, while 48 are awaiting results, and 228 tested negative.
