20 fined for violating SOPs

KUCHING: Police have issued 20 compounds to errant individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Sibu recorded the most compounds issued with 11, followed Padawan (four), Bau (two) and one each in Kota Samarahan, Betong and Miri.

Police also arrested seven individuals in an entertainment centre in Sibu. Four men and three women, including the premises owner, were found flouting the SOPs amid the recovery movement control order (RMCO).

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government issued 91 verbal, written and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils.

On the SOP compliance monitoring, patrol teams have inspected 1,468 premises throughout Sarawak.

These include 313 restaurants, supermarkets (174), banks (119), public markets (66), places of worship (56), leisure places (33), government offices (33), hawker stalls (30), factories (18), construction sites (15) and others (611).

Under Ops Benteng, 1,833 vehicles were inspected at seven roadblocks in six districts — two in Lawas, and one each in Lundu, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu.
