34 compounded for violating SOPs

KUCHING: Thirty-four persons were issued compound notices of RM1,000 each for violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the recovery movement control order (RMCO) last Friday.

Twenty of them were found gathering en masse without practising social distancing at the Kuching Waterfront on Friday night.

“Fourteen others including a premises owner and 12 customers were compounded for failing to adhere to the SOPs in a separate inspection.

“All the individuals were found committing an offence for not complying with the SOPs during the enforced recovery movement control order (RMCO),” said Kuching district police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani.

He said the police inspected four premises in the city centre and found the premises did not provide temperature scanners, logbooks of customers’ that came to premises and no hand sanitisers.

Two of the premises are located at Jalan Petanak while the other two are at Jalan Lorong Kapor, Sungai Maong and Jalan Main Bazaar.

Awang Din said the individuals were given 14 days from the date of issuance of the notices to pay their compounds at Kuching division health office.

He stressed that stern actions would be taken against premises operators who failed to comply with the SOPs.
