KUCHING: A total of 34 new records were set out of 100 events during the recent 4th PASC Inter-Primary School Swimming Championship for Kuching and Kota Samarahan divisions held at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre, here.
Out of the 33 schools that took part, 22 of them won the medals.

“We are very proud to see this year’s achievement as every year there is an increase in new records created and also the number of participating schools.

“We are also proud of our club’s swimmers because seven of our athletes won the best swimmer awards out of the 12 categories,” said the club’s advisor Voon Yong Hui.

He expressed hope that more participants will take part next year while being confident that more new meet records will be created.

The seven PASC swimmers who won the best swimmer awards were Casper Tan, Darren Leong, Dylan Leong, Janice Tan, Cayden Mineve Chin, Max Chew and Charissa Ang.

Voon said the club is planning to hold another swimming competition in August this year and believed that more swimming competitions should be held just like their counterparts in West Malaysia and overseas because it is a good platform to identify potential swimmers.

He thanked to Education, Science and Technological Research Minister Datuk Sri Michael Manyin Jawong, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian and the Sarawak Sports Corporation Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ong Kong Swee for their support towards the competition.
