BINTULU: The Land and Survey Department enforcement unit has successfully thwarted the illegal extraction and removal of rock materials without permit here.

It has also seized four heavy vehicles used to carry out the illegal activity.

The illegal operation was detected through early intelligence work and also due to the patrolling carried out in the area.

The case will be investigated under Section 32A of the State Land Code (Chapter 81).

In connection with this, members of the public are advised to get prior advice from the department before they want to engage in any activity involving extraction of earth or stones.

This is to ensure they would not run against the law, said the department’s public communication unit in a statement yesterday.

The unit also advised the public to channel information about any suspicious activity in their area to the department through telephone number 082 444111 (Land & Survey HQ) or through its Talikhidmat Service at its website www.talikhidmat.sarawak.gov.my or call 555999.
