KUCHING: Fifty errant individuals were issued with a RM1,000 compound each for failing to comply with standard operating procedure (SOP) on Monday (Aug 31).

Acting district police chief Supt Merbin Lisa said SOP compliance operations were carried out at three locations – Kampung Sorabaya Ulu Waterfront in Petra Jaya, Kuching Waterfront, and Jalan Wayang.

Police found 35 men and 15 women in violation of the recovery movement control order SOP.

All individuals were given a 14-day period from the date of the compound to pay up at the Kuching division health office.

The individuals were compounded in accordance with Regulation 3 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) (No 7) Regulations 2020.

“Police will continue to intensify monitoring and inspection at all premises in this district and will ensure that the SOP, including the use of face masks in public places, is fully adhered to.

“Stern action will be taken against any individual who disobey,” Supt Merbin said in a statement.
