SRI AMAN: Around 70 extreme sports enthusiasts from all over Sarawak will be joining the Mt Lesung Expedition here from 14-16 July.
According to a spokesperson for the expedition, Nordile Muhammad, the programme is organised by HIKMAH Sri Aman in collaboration with the management of Seni Silat Helang Putih Sri Aman, Bank Rakyat Sri Aman, Baitulmal Sri Aman and Sarawak State Museum Department.
“The goal is to promote the beauty of Mt Lesung as well as promote a love for nature.
“In addition, this expedition aims to introduce extreme sports among the participants and further strengthen the spirit of cooperation through such activities,” he said.
The expedition will begin with a “gotong-royong” (mutual assist) activity to clean the church at Munggu Sawa Longhouse, Pantu on 14 July.
Involved will be the participants and residents of the longhouse.
“The first team will start climbing Mt. Lesung on 14 July while the second team will start climbing on 15 July. All will start the expedition from Munggu Sawa Longhouse.
“During the climb, all participants will have the opportunity to view the location of the Wind Cave.
“They will camp at the top of the mountain,” said Nordile.
