KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) will contest in all state seats including those helmed by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) in the next state polls.

Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh

Its president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh said that as for him, he would defend his Bawang Assan seat.

“PBB declared a war by saying that they’re out to get Bawang Assan PSB seat. Dr Annuar Rapaee (Nangka assemblyman) said that, as have Romeo (a political secretary to the chief minister, Romeo Christopher Tegong). With that, they have declared war against me,” he told reporters after presenting aid to Salvation Army Boy’s Home here yesterday.

Dr Annuar was reported to have said that it was time that Bawang Assan was represented by an Iban from PBB.

Romeo, who is PBB Bawang Assan chief, rallied all PBB sub-branches in the constituency to win the seat for PBB in the next state polls.

However, Wong had other ideas and insisted that he would defend PSB in Bawang Assan.

“As the party president, I will lead the party into this war. It will be a friendly contest, but may the best party win and we will let the people choose,” he said.

He also said that PSB has announced its candidates for Opar, Tasik Biru, Batang Ai, Engkilili and Balai Ringin constituencies.

He said that incumbent Datuk Ranum Mina will defend his Opar seat and that Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe, Datuk William Nyalau Badak, Datuk Masir Kujat and Dr Johnical Rayong will be contesting in Tasik Biru, Batang Ai, Balai Ringin and Engkilili respectively.

On the Mambong seat, he said that the party is still deliberating on its candidate.

“I will announce the candidate and in Mambong we also don’t have a service centre, only a centre for coordination,” he said.
