Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri as Pustaka Negeri Sarawak`s northern branch, it first opened its door to the public on 19 October 2002 and officially opened on 10 December 2002. Its functions are also in line with the Sarawak State Library Ordinance 1999.

MIRI: Pustaka Miri will hold a two-part workshop here at Kampung Muhibah and will be officiated by Minister of Transport Datuk Lee Kim Shin.

The first part of the workshop known as ‘Reading Seeds’ is a unique literacy programme designed for both children and parents to develop a shared passion for literacy, emphasising on the importance of literacy capacity development within the family and promoting the awareness of concentrated periods to nurture lifelong literacy.

Reading Seeds is a programme extracted from Pustaka Negeri Sarawak’s ‘Born to Read Programme’ which started since the year 2004.

With ‘Born to Read’ as its predecessor, ‘Reading Seeds’ has been enhanced with 12 new modules tailored to encourage literacy interest for families with children, starting from the antenatal stage up to 36 months old.

The workshop will also rollout a collaborative initiative between Pustaka (Miri), with the state government in implementing ‘Pandei’ (People Accessible, Network for Digital Empowerment & Inclusivity), the second part of the workshop.
