KOTA SAMARAHAN: Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang said 1,200 units of Rumah Spektra Permata (Spektra) houses would be built here soon.
He said the state government had identified and reserved 144 acres of land here to cater for the construction of these houses.
“I have asked Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg during a meeting to build plenty of houses priced at under RM100,000 and he mentioned this when tabling the State Budget.
“The prices of these houses range from RM85,000 to RM125,000, depending on the scale. Insya-Allah, Spektra houses will be built in Kota Samarahan, such as those in Sibu, Kuching and Sematan among others,” he said.
He said this when officiating at the closing ceremony of a Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Management Course at the Kota Samarahan Civic Centre here today.
Idris said those unable to afford standard cost houses, especially farmers and fishermen without payslips, could apply for loans for Spektra houses from the state government through Mutiara Mortgage and Credit.
“Those without houses or land can apply with payments of between RM200 and RM300 per month.
“When they don’t have payslips, it is the role of community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) to register them and prepare letters of support (for their loan applications).
“Once the houses are paid for, they will become the freeholders,” he added.
He said the Spektra houses would be able to reduce the population density in villages, a common issue here.
Citing Kampung Baru here as an example, Idris said one of its main challenges was land erosion which cost the state government millions of ringgit to solve. .
“These people have nowhere to go. Their children are unable to purchase houses. They can only help at the family farms and eventually inherit the farms.
“When we solve the density issue in Kampung Baru, we will try to solve the same issue in other villages as well,” he assured.
