DALAT: Kampung Sungai Ud here is on a 14-day lockdown starting today.

Dalat OCPD DSP Saga Chunggat said five roadblocks would be set up throughout the village.

“This decision was made by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) on Wednesday to prevent more Covid-19 transmission from occurring.

“Besides that, it is also important to enable the Health Department to detect active Covid-19 cases,” he said.

More than 40 personnel comprising the police, People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) as well as the Civil Defence Force (APM) are involved in carrying out movement restriction operations.

“The movement of the public is restricted for the time being and only allowed for emergency cases.

“However, all essential services are still allowed to operate.”

Currently, swab tests are being conducted at Kampung Sungai Ud to identify close contacts of Covid-19 positive individuals.

On Tuesday, Dalat turned from orange to red after recording an increase in cases in the past 14 days.
