New cluster declared in Sungai Gemuan, Meradong

KUCHING: The State Health Department (JKNS) has declared a new cluster dubbed the Sungai Gemuan Cluster in Meradong.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said this brings to 45 active clusters in the state as of Friday (Apr 9).

“Of the total, 15 clusters reported an increase in cases while the other 30 clusters did not record any new cases,” he said at the SDMC Covid-19 update press conference today.

He also announced that Mukah District had changed its status from yellow to red after recording 53 local infection cases in the last fortnight.

his increases the number of red-status districts to 13.

“Subis District has changed from yellow to orange after recording 28 local infection cases in the last 14 days. This increases the number of orange-status districts to five,” he said.

There are presently 17 yellow districts and five green zones.
