KUCHING: This year’s ‘Jom Baca Bersama’ programme will be held online on Thursday (22 April).
The State Library (Pustaka) said the programme, a simultaneous reading programme conducted throughout the nation, aimed at providing awareness and fostering interest in reading among the community.
“The conditional movement control order is not stopping Pustaka from making this programme a success because we have taken the initiative to hold it online, responding to the government’s call to keep reading and always read at home,” Pustaka said today.
The programme, among others, would include a marathon storytelling session live on Pustaka’s Facebook from 12pm to 4.30pm.
Pustaka added that the programme also received support from federal Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
“She also informed that the ‘Jom Baca Bersama’ programme is a continuous effort by the government to position Malaysia as a country whose people are known to the world as those who practise the culture of reading because a nation that reads is a successful nation.”
