‘Thank You Frontliners’ programme in session

MIRI: The Sarawak Public Relations Unit (Ukas) together with Miri Resident’s Office distributed donations as appreciation to frontline staff in Lambir as part of the ‘Thank You Frontliners’ programme.

Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat, together with Ukas director Samat Junai, Miri Division acting Resident Abdul Aziz Mohamad Yusuf led the distribution. They were joined by other delegates.

Ripin said that the ‘Thank You Frontliners’ programme is to honour the contribution of the frontline workers.

“The state government has taken the initiative through Ukas to help frontline workers who work 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assess the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

Meanwhile, he reminded the Miri community, especially those in Lambir, to follow the standard operation procedures (SOPs) in curbing the spread of the virus.

Corporal Herman Setuju of the SJR (sekatan-jalan-raya or roadblock) at Siwa reported that the general public cooperated well with the frontline officials.

“Based on our observations throughout the SJR, the locals have cooperated by ensuring that the SOPs outlined by the government are complied.”

Corporal Jack Jarit who manned the Lambir roadblock said that the local community in the area cooperated fully with the frontline officials and followed the SOPs established by the National Security Council (MKN).

“In terms of compliance with SOPs, so far it has been good since the local people know that it is important to adhere to the SOPs in curbing the spread of the Covid-19,” he explained.

Earlier, in an a separate initiative, Miri JL Nippon Auto Sdn Bhd symbolically handed over donations to frontline workers through Ukas at the Grand Palace Hotel, here.

The donation was handed over by Miri JL Nippon Auto Sdn Bhd chief executive officer William Willy Lau in appreciation of the services of frontline staff who were willing to sacrifice in the fight against the Covid-19.
