KUCHING: A new Covid-19 workplace cluster involving the employees of a bird nest business in Jalan Muara Tabuan has been reported in the city.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the new cluster called Jalan Muara Cluster stemmed from the community and had spread to the employees.

A total of 108 individuals were screened whereby 15 including the index case tested positive, 60 tested negative and 33 are still awaiting laboratory test results.

All positive cases were referred to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and admitted to the Covid-19 Low Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC) in Kuching district.

Meanwhile, the Sarawak Health Department had declared the end of two clusters namely the Sungai Banus Cluster in Selangau and the Jalan Pending Block D Cluster in Kuching after no new cases were reported in the past 28 days.

Apart from that, there are still 77 active clusters in the state, with a total of 11 clusters recording an additional 39 new positive cases.

Pusa and Saratok districts have now changed to orange zones from red after only 39 and 33 local transmitted cases were reported in the district respectively in the past two days.

As such, this brings the number of districts classified as red zones in the state to 28 districts.

There are five districts classified as orange zones, six districts remained as yellow zones and one district namely Telang Usan remained as green zone.
