KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 7,032 individuals comprising military personnel, their families and civil servants around Kuching will receive the Covid-19 vaccination at a drive-through vaccination centre at Muara Tuang camp here.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the system could increase the number of vaccine recipients compared to the conventional static method.

“For this programme, there are a total of 7,032 individuals where 3,272 of them are military personnel, 3,300 family members and 460 others are civil servants who have been listed to receive the vaccine injection.

“A total of 70 staff will be involved, namely four medical officers, 34 health staff and 32 general staff. The recipients have been identified in advance and there are a large number of vehicle channels provided to ease the process,”  he said in a press conference at the Muara Tuang camp today.

The minister said so far, more than 50 percent of military personnel in Sarawak had received the vaccine and he expected the process to be fully completed by mid-July.
