PADAWAN: A 29-year-old construction worker suspected his 24-year-old wife of having an affair with her 23-year-old adopted brother.
When he and two friends punched her adopted brother, his wife tried to stop them and this infuriated the jealous hubby who whacked the woman on the head with a mobile phone, causing her injuries.
The incident happened at Taman Dahlia Matang here at about 7am on Tuesday.
Padawan police chief Superintendent Aidil Bolhassan said today the construction worker was arrested at 5.20pm on Wednesday at Taman Dahlia Matang, following a police report lodged by the woman.
Police also arrested the two friends involved in the violence.
Aidil said the suspect denied hitting his wife but confessed to punching her adopted brother.
The Padawan police chief added that the suspect had no previous criminal record while his two friends, aged 28 and 26, had previous criminal records under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the Penal Code.
“The case is still under investigation,” he added.
