Firemen from Bintulu station working to extinguish the flames that burned down a double-storey house today (30 July).

BINTULU: An uninhabited double-storey house at Jalan Mat Assan, Tanjung Kidurong was burned down today (July 30).

Fire chief Chirstus Buson said his men were despatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call around 12.50am.

The house, measuring 50×50 square feet, was up in flames as soon as the team arrived at the scene.

It was told that the premises was used as a transit house for employees from a fertiliser company.

He noted the extinguishing operation ended at 3.15am and no casualties were reported.

Meanwhile in Siburan, a fire destroyed a parked car behind a premises at Taman Duranda Emas, Jalan Kuching-Serian.

Firemen from Siburan station were despatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 1.38am.

The flames were extinguished and no casualties were reported.

The cause of the fire in both cases is still being investigated.
