KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Seri Abdul Taib Mahmud on Tuesday (Sept 28) hosted the organising committee for his 85th birthday celebration which paid him a courtesy visit at Demak Jaya here.
The visitors were led by Utilities Minister Datuk Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom who is in charge of the celebration.
They invited Taib and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Ragad Kurdi Taib to the celebratory events to be held from Oct 8 to 10.
The celebration has to be hybridised so as to comply with the public health standard operating procedures (SOP) made necessary by the need to curb the spread of the ongoing pandemic.
Among the celebrations are a thanksgiving at Masjid Jamek, Kuching; the official birthday ceremony; state awards conferment ceremony at the State Legislative Assembly Complex, and state banquet at the Borneo Kuching Convention Centre (BCCK).
