SAMARAHAN: The Batang Samarahan Bridge is expected to be completed by the end of the month. According to Minister of Works Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof, construction is expected to finish ahead of schedule as it was originally expected to be completed by June 22, 2018. “Now they’re completing off works such as preparing the road shoulder and others and we hope that this bridge will be opened to the public, especially since Gawai is next month.

“Therefore, we hope that there won’t be any delays such as the weather or other technical difficulties,” he said during a press conference after a site visit to the bridge here yesterday. Fadillah, who is also Barisan Nasional’s (BN) candidate for Petra Jaya, said that the bridge would have a tremendous multiplier effect. “Each million that we spend will be multiplied by eight and it will not only improve mobility and connectivity, but it will also open up new areas,” he explained.
