SIMUNJAN: A total of 59 Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) in the Batang Sadong area have received RM281,000 in activity grants which are given annually.

It was handed over by Batang Sadong MP Datuk Nancy Shukri at a Symbolic Rice Handover Programme in conjunction with the Gawai celebration at the Sri Simunjan Rest House, today.

Nancy who is also Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) said, the allocation of grants to JKKKs will enable them to plan for programmes.

She added that it also reflects that no party is sidelined in the distribution of contributions and assistance.

She said the nature of tolerance in society as well as the practice of mutual respect to live together allows the community to enjoy harmony as a family rich in various cultures and beliefs.

“Because of that, we can share and celebrate various festivals together despite different religions and races. In fact, we support each other when celebrating festivals together.

“We also want to ensure that the residents of Batang Sadong become a far-sighted community and can develop their place of origin together, so as not to be left behind,” she added.

Also present was Simunjan Assemblyman Awla Dris.
