SIBU: The 48 hours Sibu Raiders mini film will be showcased in Singapore, said Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Michael Tiang Ming Tee.

Tiang revealed that he suggested the mini film be showcased in Singapore during his recent visit with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (Statos).

“I told them (Statos) we have 48 hours Sibu Raiders, I will send this short film to the office in Singapore to introduce Sibu to the rest of the world that we welcome them (tourists) to Sibu,” he said when officiating at the Chinese Pavillion night in conjunction with the Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) here on Thursday (July 21).

The mini film features Malaysian supermodel Amber Chia sharing her experiences throughout her 48 hours touring around Sibu.

“Since 2002 we have organised 13 times BCF and because of Covid 19 it has been postponed for two years.

“Tonight, the programme presented by this BCF is wonderful. It just shows how many talents we have in Sibu.

“Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman (Clarence Ting) told us earlier that they have no confidence in organising this BCF and yet they have made a courageous decision to go with this and have done so well.

Tiang congratulated all the SMC councillors for their hard work to ensure that BCF run smoothly.

During the Chinese Pavilion night, a lot of unique performances were showcased such as dragon dance, Chinese traditional music performance, acrobatics performance, Peking opera and more.
