CM to officiate at centenary celebration of school

KUCHING: Various activities including beach run, cultural performances, Islamic affairs forum and launching of Kabong dialects are being organised in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Abang Leman Kabong on October 19.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will officiate at the celebration.

The matter was confirmed by Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir after a courtesy call on the Chief Minister at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here yesterday.

“SK Abang Leman Kabong has existed since 1919, and this year is the 100th year the school was established and is the oldest in the area,” Mohd Chee said.

He noted that the school had succeeded in producing excellent students in academic, sports and other fields.

“I am proud of the opportunity to celebrate the 100th anniversary of SK Abang Leman Kabong with other alumni, and most interestingly, the programme will be attended by our Chief Minister,” he said.

Also present were SK Abang Leman Kabong Alumni chairperson Olen Tabor, the school’s Parent Teacher Association chairman Johan Man and school’s headmaster Mohtar Jaya.
