Al Bait Leadership Foundation donates clothes to Samarahan community

KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Al Bait Leadership Foundation (YKAB) conducted the Al Bait Clothing Infak Project to support the Samarahan community by donating clothes.

During the project, some 5,000 pieces of clothing were distributed to around 600 recipients.

In conjunction with IDOP also, an estimated 800 pieces of clothing were prepared for distribution to 650 individuals, consisting of the elderly, adults and teenagers.

The event to celebrate International Day For Older Persons (IDOP) at the Samarahan Division level was officiated by Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development.

A statement said the programme was organised by the Kota Samarahan Health Clinic Advisory Panel, the Community Geriatric Unit (GeKo) and the Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKMS).

YKAB was invited to participate in the IDOP located at Dewan Sri Samarahan, Teacher’s Institute Samarahan on Sunday (Oct 1).

YKAB has made a donation of 50 quad canes to the GeKo of Samarahan Division to assist elderly people in need.

The statement said YKAB implemented the Al Bait Clothing Infak Project to provide assistance to the needy, especially the general public around Kota Samarahan.

“These clothes have been collected from approximately 400 contributors consisting of members of the public and received a good response from the recipients of the community around Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman and Sibu during Ramadan.”

This project was also assisted by approximately 40 volunteers of YKAB. The public who are interested in volunteering can contact Nurfarahin at 014-3615011.

Also present at the celebration were Muhammad Zakeria Hattar, deputy director of the Sarawak Social Welfare Department; Dr Nur Fatihah Oh Abdullah, health officer of the Samarahan Division; Dr Sally Suriani Ahip, chairman of the GeKo Unit for the Samarahan Division; community leader for Samarahan Division, Chek Bujang; and Abdul Hafiz Zainalabidin, YKAB manager.
