KUCHING: All leaders in Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) are free from corruption, including Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip reiterated this in response to claims made by Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong that GPS was not honest about the state’s investments.

“GPS has its own party system, besides that I can assure you that all GPS leaders are clean,” said Talib.  “I know the chief minister very well. I was his permanent secretary back when he was Minister of Development and Industry,” he told reporters when met at the Executive Talk of Integrity and Governance here yesterday.

Violet also claimed that when asked about Sarawak Economic Development Corporation’s (SEDC) investment in a cattle property in Australia, SEDC had always kept mum.

“SEDC has purchased the property using proper corporate governance processes and if she (Violet) is not happy then go and talk to SEDC alone,” he stressed.

Talib also pointed out that SEDC had even given its answer on the issue and has proof that it complied with the rules.
