KUCHING: The eagerly awaited ‘Juh Berambeh Sungkei @ Kuching 2024’, will take place at Padang Merdeka here on April 6.
This event, a collaboration between the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) and the Kuching Mahabbah Charity Association, promises a day of community and festivity.
Volunteers and organising committee members will start the day at 10 am with a ‘gotong royong’ session to prepare bubur lambuk, a traditional porridge, for distribution to the public later in the afternoon.
In addition to the porridge distribution, 100 asnaf (underprivileged families) will receive aid in a special programme presented by MYSED Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
The highlight of the event begins at 4 pm with performance from local buskers and a ‘Tazkirah Ramadan’ session featuring Datuk Ustaz Kazim Elias from Kuala Lumpur as the guest speaker.
Attendees can also enjoy food from various trucks and participate in lucky draw sessions.
Reflecting on the event’s importance, Abdul Karim noted that last year’s programme attracted 5,000 participants.
“This year, with the Kuching Mahabbah Welfare Association coordinating, we aim to strengthen community bonds and unity among Sarawak’s diverse ethnic groups,” he said.
