Amok sets mum’s bed on fire

MIRI : A 30-year-old man was detained yesterday for allegedly running amok and setting his mother’s bed on fire.

The incident reportedly occurred on May 15 at a house in Kampung Dagang, Bekenu.

According to Miri Police chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the suspect was picked up by a team of Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel at the Miri Hospital around 11.50 am yesterday.

In the May 15 incident, around 9 pm, the suspect had allegedly not only set the bed set on fire but also vandalised his mother’s motorcycle for not giving him cash.

A police report was lodged over the incident.

The suspect has been brought to Miri Central Police station’s lockup for questioning.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 and Section 427 of the Penal Code.
