BUNGIN: The Sarawak government will consider the construction of an ‘Anjung Usahawan’ in Saribas, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

He gave the assurance after considering the proposal made by Saribas assemblyman Mohammad Razi Sitam.

Awang Tengah explained that he would try to propose the construction of Saribas Anjung Usahawan Project to see if it could be included in the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) list of projects.

According to him, the project would provide a place for the community to be involved in food processing, agricultural products and the cottage industry, etc.

Awang Tengah, who is also International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development Minister, said this when met by reporters after launching the Leader-with-the-People programme and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) roadshow at Kampung Bungin here yesterday.

He explained that under the Anjung Usahawan concept, adequate space would be provided for the people to engage in small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

On issues and concerns raised by the people, he said, “As the head of the branch said, there are flash floods in the village during the rainy season. He had proposed the widening of the road here. I will direct the related agencies to investigate.

“We are currently in the process of reviewing the list of development projects that can be included in the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).

“As for the duration of implementation, some can be implemented quickly, others need to be implemented in stages.”
