MIRI: The Covid-19 vaccination programme in Ba’ Kelalan and Long Semado will begin on Tuesday (June 22).

A spokesperson from the First Infantry Division said a military medical team comprising two doctors and seven paramedics had arrived in Ba’ Kelalan on Monday (June 21).

“The Malaysian Armed Forces Combat Medic Vaccination Team (ATM CMVT) flew in on a Royal Malaysian Air Force EC725 helicopter at around 9.40am.

“They are expected to start the vaccination process in the rural areas from June 22 to 27.

“The process will involve residents in Ba’ Kelalan and Long Semado with a target of more than 1,000 recipients.”

This is in line with Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s announcement last Saturday that ATM CMVT would be sent to Sarawak’s interior areas.

The collaboration between the First Infantry Division and the Sarawak government would help speed up vaccination in rural areas.

In addition, it would also help to speed up the implementation of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme in Sarawak.
