Arrifin, Jefri appointed new NSC deputy directors-general

KUALA LUMPUR: Acting National Sports Council (NSC) deputy director-general (Sports Development) Arrifin Mohd Ghani and NSC Athlete Division director Jefri Ngadirin have been appointed as deputy directors-general effective yesterday.

Arrifin is the new deputy director-general (Commercialisation and Marketing) while Jefri is the new deputy director-general (Sports Development), the NSC announced in a statement.

Arrifin, 55, has a Bachelors in Law from Universiti Teknologi Mara and joined the NSC as International Relations Unit chief in 1995, then as Elite branch director (2004), Management Service Division director (2015) and finally Sports Management Division director in 2018.

He was then seconded to the Melaka state sports council as the state NSC director from Feb 1, 2019 to April 4, 2020, before joining the Sports Commissioner’s Office as deputy sports commissioner till Aug 2023.

Jefri, 51, meanwhile, has a Bachelors in Business Administration from Miami University, Florida, the United States, and began his career in the NSC as an officer in the NSC Development Division in 1993 before furthering his studies from 1996 to 1999.

He returned to the NSC in 1999, serving in the Development Division till 2003, and rising to Core Sports Unit chief in 2004, Reserves Division director (2005-2014) followed by Athlete Division director (2015).

Their letters of appointment were presented to them by Youth and Sports Ministry secretary-general Dr K Nagulendran and witnessed by NSC director-general Abdul Rashid Yaakub. – BERNAMA
