BINTULU: Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee has affirmed his commitment to nurturing young talents within his constituency.
Iskandar said the development of the youth is crucial as they will be the contributor of the progress of the state and the nation.
Known for his advocacy for youth engagement, he expressed continued support for youth-centric activities, particularly in sports.
“I will always support the active involvement and programmes of the youth including sports events,” he said when officiated at the opening of the JB Gym & Boxing Club at RPR Sibiyu Shophouse, Jalan Sibiyu here yesterday.
He encouraged the youth to embrace a positive lifestyle.
“The youth should always cultivate a healthy lifestyle for the common good and avoid doing negative activities,” he added.
Meanwhile, Saffarudin Narudin, the owner of JB Gym & Boxing Club, said that the establishment of the sports centre aimed not only at discovering new sporting talents, particularly in boxing, but also at steering the youth away from harmful activities.
“It also aims to prevent the younger generation from getting stuck in unhealthy activities,” he said.
