KUCHING: Persatuan Anak Jati Lawas (JATI) has been called upon to fulfil its responsibility by providing assistance to Lawas youngsters who travelled to the state’s capital for medical or educational purposes.

According to Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, the assistance (which could be in terms of welfare, advice, guidance, and others) would help the youngsters adapt easily to their new surroundings, which would be different from their originality.

“We need to do our best to help our children who are in another place for the first time so that they can adjust themselves.

“This is the role that the association should play — helping Lawas people who come to Kuching for educational or medical purposes,” he said at the Majlis Badudun Aidil Fitri JATI 2023 at Dewan Sri Bunga Rampai here today (May 14).

He also hoped the association would be able to contribute its services to those in need.

“Your help is important because it can further help improve the wellbeing of our community while also giving them the opportunity to build a better future,” he said.

He also called on the Lawas community to always maintain unity with each other to ensure their future generations also benefit from what they were working on.

The event was organised to welcome and celebrate Aidilfitri with various people, including those from Limbang and Lawas who have been living in Kuching to work, study, and others.
