ROAD BULLYING CASE

KUCHING: A 37-year-old man was arrested in front of a house in Everbright Estate at Jalan Batu Kawa here on suspicion of being involved in a road bullying case last Monday morning.

Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the road bullying happened at 11.42am when the 33-year-old victim was driving along Jalan Arang heading towards Batu Kawa.

Aidil reported that the bully who was also driving suddenly stopped in front of the victim’s car.

He explained that the man got out of his car with a baseball bat approaching the victim, scolded the victim by saying that he owned the road. He hit the right-hand mirror of the victim’s car and left.

“The victim did not get out of the car for fear of being injured by the bully. Instead, he went to lodge a police report,” Aidil said in a statement.

Police from Padawan then tracked and arrested the bully — a ‘mee kolok’ seller — around 3.40pm that same day.

Aidil said the road bully confessed to damaging the victim’s mirror using a baseball bat because he was angry that the victim drove too slowly.

The road bullying which occurred in front of a motorcycle workshop at Jalan Arang was recorded on camera in the victim’s car.

“Apart from that, we found that the bully’s car number was registered in the name of his brother,” Aidil said.

The bully is being remanded to facilitate police investigation into the case under Section 506 and 427 of the Penal Code.
