KUCHING: The establishment of a parliamentary select committee (PSC) on the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) is better late than never.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Jemut Masing said that to have the PSC before the tabling of the amendment Bill of Article 1 (2) of the Federal Constitution would have saved MPs a lot of heartaches and quarrels on matters of great importance to all Malaysians.

“The Pakatan Harapan (PH) Law Minister Liew Vui Keong should have done this in the first place,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

He said Liew should have followed a suggestion by Santubong MP Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar instead of being too proud to be corrected by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) representatives.

“Let’s right the wrong now. I hope that Sarawak, Sabah and PH MPs would stop politicking and trying to be heroes for the good of all Malaysians.

“It is about time to make Sarawak and Sabah equal to Malaysia in accordance with MA63,” he stressed.
